Bergman Academy Mock Trial Team Advances to State Tournament

On Wednesday the Bergman Mock Trial Team clinched a berth at the Iowa Middle School Mock Trial state tournament. Mock Trial began at Bergman Academy in the 2017-18 school year. The team, comprised of students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, practice three mornings a week and each weekend.Students were presented with a challenging legal problem, including case materials, and have prepared both sides of the case.At competition they match wits and skill with another school as they argue the one side of the case in front of a panel of volunteer judges and lawyers. The Iowa MS Mock Trial program is the largest in the nation, with 38 teams in the Des Moines region alone. Many of these teams represent much larger schools with a long history of competing in Mock Trial.Bergman is proud to be one of nine teams to advance and will be competing November 27-28! The team is coached by Scott Johnson, Tim Whipple, and Jennifer Galloway – thank you to these wonderful coaches and congratulations to the team!
