USPTO Opens Two New Regional OfficesNovember 19, 2015

Under the America Invents Act, the USPTO has the capability to open regional offices to assist inventors and businesses with their intellectual property needs. Recently, two new regional offices were opened: San Jose, California and Dallas, Texas.

The San Jose Office opened on October 15, 2015 and is located within the Silicon Valley’s central business district.

The Dallas Office opened on November 9, 2015 and is located in the Terminal Annex Federal Building.

USPTO services, as well as education and outreach, will be available through each of the regional offices, and the USPTO has plans to hire locally for patent examiner and Patent Trial and Appeal Board judge positions in each of these offices. Each office will also provide services directed at helping local start-ups protect their intellectual property while effectively marketing their new inventions.

Two additional regional offices have already been opened, with one in Detroit, Michigan and Denver, Colorado. with the opening of the San Jose and Dallas regional offices, the USPTO now provides an office in every continental U.S. time zone.
