The use of drones in various business applications is becoming common. For example, drones with cameras are used to inspect farm crops, to search natural disaster areas, to provide news coverage, and to make Hollywood films. Historical business are being reinvented and new businesses are being developed by the use of these unmanned aerial vehicles.
Drones will soon be part of our daily lives. Many have read about plans for drone delivery services, such as Amazon’s plans to drop packages to your doorstep. But have your heard of IBM’s invention of a drone which will deliver your morning coffee based upon your individual state of mind?
U.S. patent 10,040,551 issued on August 7, 2018 and is entitled DRONE DEVLIERY OF COFFEE BASED ON A COGNITIVE STATE OF AN INDIVIDUAL. This patent covers
a method of delivery a drink to an individual by connecting the drink to the drone, flying the drone to an area where a group of people are gathered,
scanning the people using a sensor on the drone to identify someone who has a predetermined sleepy cognitive state of mind, analyzing sleep data, and
delivering the drink to the sleepy person.
Whether you pour your own coffee, get it at a drive through window, have it brought to your table at a restaurant, or let a drone bring it to you, your day dreams of the future and creative innovations might be here sooner than you think.
