Deion Sanders seeks trademark protection related to various phrasesDecember 4, 2023

Deion Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, is currently wrapping up his first season as head coach of the University of Colorado Boulder football team. Head coaches at the highest level of college football regularly face challenges in year one at a new school. This often rang true for Coach Deion Sanders in his first year at the helm in Boulder. After a promising start to the season and several exciting moments on the gridiron, the Buffaloes lost each of their last six games and finished with a 4-8 record.

While the 2023 football season likely generated a rollercoaster of emotions for Buffaloes fans , Coach Sanders, through his corporation Prime Time Enterprises, Inc., has made moves off the field relating to his intellectual property portfolio. During the course of the 2023 college football season, Coach Sanders has filed for trademarks for several phrases including:

  • COACH PRIME
  • PRIME EFFECT
  • DADDY BUCK
  • IT’S PERSONAL
  • AIN’T NOBODY CARE
  • F AROUND AND FIND OUT
  • WE KEEP RECEIPTS
  • PITBULL IN PUMPS
  • WORKING OR TWERKING
  • BULL JUNK
  • GIVE ME MY THEME MUSIC

For each of the phrases noted above, Coach Sanders has sought trademark protection in different field(s). Some of these fields include clothing/attire items, household items, coaching, and entertainment services. For example, regarding the F AROUND AND FIND OUT phrase, Coach Sanders is seeking trademark protection related to various clothing/attire items. In regard to the PRIME EFFECT phrase, Coach Sanders is seeking trademark protection related to coaching and entertainment services. Each of the trademark applications related to the above-identified phrases are still pending before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

As the Buffaloes’ 2023 football season draws to a close and preparation for 2024 begins, it is clear from his trademark filings over the past few months that Coach Sanders has made an effort to grow his intellectual property portfolio.
